After years of development, Broadcast Center is pleased to announce the new Broadcast Center Online Program starting September 15th, 2010.
This distance learning option encompasses three components:
- On-air announcing
- Digital audio production
- Broadcast sales and Marketing
Online trainees will receive ‘live’ one-on-one instruction with our team of instructors, through an online digital interface, and students set their own schedule. Trainees receive all of the software necessary to execute the audio production and radio studio performance training requirements of the program, including a broadcast-quality microphone. Upon completing the training, students will have all the necessary elements to operate their own internet radio station. Additionally, distance learning students receive the benefit of job placement assistance and Broadcast Center’s 38 years of connections to radio stations around the country.
Starting January 1, 2011, tuition, all hardware and software, books, and job placement assistance for the Broadcast Center’s Online Program is $8500. However, right now we are celebrating the launch of this new training option by offering a tuition of $6800 - a 20% reduction. This tuition will only be offered until October 31, 2010.

Broadcast Center Online Program
Broadcast Performance & JournalismThe primary focus of the Broadcast Performance & Journalism course is to train students to communicate dynamically and effectively in a variety of different broadcasting situations: DJ (music radio), news, sports, commercial voice-over, and live ‘remote’ broadcast. Throughout the course, there is a very strong emphasis on voice development. The voice is a broadcaster's most important tool and asset, the instrument they play for a living. Even if an individual has strong broadcasting skills and knowledge in other areas, long-term success will be limited if the vocal skills and abilities aren't there.
Students begin the Broadcast Performance & Journalism course working on building a strong foundation by concentrating on voice development and delivery styles for news and commercials. As students continue through the course, writing and ad-libbing skills are developed. Eventually, students work extensively in a live radio setting, using computerized automation software to deliver an on-air show--complete with music, news and commercials.
Digital Audio Production
The Digital Audio Production course trains students in the technical and creative aspects of producing recorded commercials, promotional announcements and programs. Students learn to conceptualize and write commercials to be produced, as well as carry out the technical skills of recording, editing, and mixing of music beds, voice tracks and sound effects.
Audio production in this course is done digitally, using the same audio production software used in 90% of all commercial radio stations.
Broadcast Center's Audio Production course is demanding. However, when students complete the course, they'll be ready for nearly anything they'll ever encounter in their broadcasting careers.
Broadcast Marketing & Advertising
The Broadcast Marketing & Advertising course covers the business side of the industry and provides students with the skills necessary to succeed in radio and television marketing positions. Although the majority of students attending Broadcast Center don't plan on pursuing marketing positions, broadcasting is a business and an understanding of broadcast marketing is essential, regardless of what type of position or job students obtain in the industry. Furthermore, an understanding of broadcast marketing is crucial for anyone hoping to advance into management positions.
